Ushers in the tabernacle and temple were called doorkeepers. The psalmist understood the importance of ushers when he said, “Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.”
One of the purposes of doorkeepers was to receive offerings from the people. Another role of an Usher\Doorkeepers is to be uniformed guards of the Temple/Church.

Pre-COVID, the Ushers would meet on the 4th Sunday immediately following Church Service.
During COVID and the Church shut down, the Ushers had weekly conference calls every Sunday at 1:00 p.m. These calls lasted an hour. During these calls we prayed for our Church, Pastor, First Lady, the sick and shut-in, Bereaved and of course the entire Vernon Park family. (Past and Present). We also discussed ways to seek more Ushers.
